About
My name is Tommy Burkhalter. I created this website mainly because I am a big fan of commercial aviation and my home, South Carolina. I knew when it was first announced that Boeing and its partners would be building components of the 787 Dreamliner in Charleston that it would be the start of something big. Boeing soon took over operations in Charleston and then announced in 2009 that it would be building a second 787 assembly line in South Carolina. This marked the first time that Boeing would be assembling and delivering planes to customers at a site outside of Washington state. This was clearly a watershed moment for South Carolina and Boeing.
I have spent most of my adult life traveling and on board airplanes. I quickly became a fan of all things commercial aviation and I kept track of what types of planes I flew on. I still keep track of what kind of planes I fly on. My goal for many years was to fly on a Boeing 747 and I was able to do that a few times with British Airways and El Al. My new goal was to fly on the Airbus A380 double decker, super jumbo. In July 2010, I flew an Air France flight on the A380 from New York to Paris and it was great fun. The adventure continues.
